Have you followed someone who assured you they knew where they were going? Maybe you were following in your car or perhaps, in the grocery store while someone tried to guide you to the aisle where certain medicines are so hard to find, but you discovered that you were going in circles. The person leading you thought they knew where they were headed, but their surety quickly turned into uncertainty. If we are not careful there are times in life we will find ourselves going in circles because of what or who we are following. A decision we were so sure of last week, may lead us into dangerous territories this week. The problem is we cannot always guarantee ourselves or others that we are headed in the right direction. We need a sure guide. We need someone who can promise and guarantee us that each time we request directions, they are able to show us the right path each time.
There is good news, because our sure guide is God. He is the one who can promise and guarantee His directions and guidance is best. God has not only promised His leading is best, but He has proven that fact time and time again. The proverb says we are to acknowledge Him in all our ways. This means we should bring to the Lord our failures and faults, our victories and defeats, our concerns and circumstances and our needs and desires. There is nothing too great or small that we cannot take it to God and place it before His feet so that He can show us how to move forward. Our problem is we want to acknowledge God after we have already made a mess of things when we should have simply taken it to Him from the beginning. When we acknowledge the Lord in the good and bad, He promises to make straight our paths. Through the Holy Spirit, our guide and comforter, God will show and open our understanding to how we are to proceed.
It is good to know that we have a sure guide in the Lord. Why do I have to give myself a headache trying to figure out where I’m headed when God is calling me to acknowledge Him? Why must I be concerned whether family or friends are leading me correctly, when the Lord says, “Acknowledge me.” Daily, acknowledge the Lord in all your ways, in all your problems, in all your circumstances and He will make straight your paths.
Scriptural Challenge: This week make an effort to acknowledge God in your agenda, decisions and problems. If you do this faithfully, note the difference it makes.
