1. Who is Dr. Breeann Wilson?
Dr. Breeann Wilson first is a child of God, her daughter, a sister, a wife, and a mother who enjoys life, fashion, travel, food and the wonders of God.
2. Being the only black podiatrist in western New York how do you navigate spaces that are traditionally, white male?
Being the only black podiatrist in Western New York can be difficult. I can be pulled in many directions and finding space to be my authentic self is my first priority. Even in these spaces with predominantly white males, I make sure to project who I am in a professional, honest manner.
3. Not only are you a doctor, wife, and mother you are also are a business (of two businesses I might add) a community leader someone who does mission work in Africa how do you prioritize What’s important to you and yet Have time to pour into others?
I completely rely on the tribe that God has given me. My family has been super supportive and everything that I do, and that is the only way that I am able to do everything that I can. I love the work that I’ve done in Africa, I love the work that I do as the board chair for the YMCA Buffalo/Niagara. I love to work that I do at Pure Podiatry of WNY in the beginning work that I’m doing with Pure Peds. But I also make sure to take time out for myself getting a massage once a month, having time to myself in the mornings for prayer and meditation, making sure I work out 5 to 6 days a week and eat right.
4. Anyone who knows Breeann Wilson knows you have a strong sense of giving back to the community. Why is that so important to you?
I believe in being the change that I want to see. So much of what is wrong in our community is people don’t take pride and where they live, who they are or what they do. It’s my job to make sure I take pride and what I do and making sure those around me can take pride in what they do, where they live, and how they see themselves. If I’m able to help in anyway supporting financially, socially, whatever is needed I want to be able to do that.
5. What’s next for Dr. Breeann Wilson?
I want to expand my practice, I want to push Pure Peds as the premier walking shoe for babies. I want to be the best mom I can to Zoë, teaching her about the world. It is my dream when she gets older to take her around the world for six months doing missionary work so she can see how fortunate and how blessed she is and to teach her empathy for others. My husband and I this year will be married for 14 years, continuing to cultivate our relationship.
